Conversion Points
In order to track the conversions, it is necessary to enter the correct ShinyStat HTML code (uniquely generated for each individual conversion) into the web page representing the conversion point (or conversion page). That page usually corresponds to the "Thank You" page for the order just entered or the form just filled.
It is possible to create conversion points for as many of the actions performed by visitors on the site (to a maximum of 20).
Attention!
For each conversion point, a corresponding HTML code must be generated.
Once the conversion point is created, it will be considered active both for referrer conversions and campaign conversions.
If the conversion point is represented by the completion of a sale or an online order, it is possible to view the amount of the sales generated by a particular referrer or campaign by filling correctly the PR= parameter within the code.
For any further information, please read the guidelines: How to set the Conversion Points - Step 4 (optional)
Referrer Conversions
To track the referrer conversions you need to create the conversion points as described above. This is why, in the Setting section, you will find guidelines about the configuration of 'conversion points' instead of 'referrer conversions'.
Once the conversion point is active, ShinyStat will set a unique Cookie in the visitor’s browser that will allow linking the conversion with the corresponding site of origin in case a conversion has been completed.
Campaign Conversions
For campaign conversions, in addition to the different conversion points, you need to create a unique tracking URL to insert in the campaign advertising messages.
The URL will immediately send the visitor onto the page you wish (destination URL) after clicking the advertisement.
How a campaign is tracked:
1 click on the advertisement: The visitor clicks the campaign advertisement linked to the tracking URL generated by ShinyStat.
2 redirect: The tracking URL takes the visitor directly to the destination page of the web site (Destination URL).
The tracking URL allows ShinyStat to retrieve the campaign data.
3 web site navigation: The visitor navigates the site, can leave the site and go back to it after a few days. It is important though that this time frame does not exceed the 'Visit validity days' previously set by the user when configuring the campaign. Beyond this time frame, the visitor will not be identified anymore as coming from that specific campaign.
4 conversion: When the visitor completes the conversion, the system will link that conversion with the campaign of origin. It is possible to configure a campaign with more than one Destination URL, For further details, please read: Advanced Option- Multi-URL Campaign.
Tracking Campaigns without conversions
Without the activation of conversion points, the tracking of any Referrer conversion data is impossible. This is not the case for Campaign conversions. For example: if you do not wish to track the conversions, you will be able to track the clicks of each campaign by generating only the URLs to be used in advertisements, banners and e-mails.
Like all the data tracked by ShinyStat, the conversion data are available in real time in specific reports.
