Geolocalization |
 |
This report makes it possible to analyze the visitors' referrer according to their geographic localization, showing each
referrer's city.
Reading the relevant data becomes speedy and easier through the visualization of the map and the ability to zoom in and out.
This way the analysis represents a useful tool to optimize the strategies implemented to make your website more visible
in specific geographic areas.
For example, from a reading of the geolocalization report one could perceive a low figure of visitors from a particular area.
In such a case it may be possible to launch specific marketing schemes, ranging from ads in local newspapers to sponsoring
local events, and evaluate later their effect through an increase in visits from those areas.

How does the the geolocalization system work
The geolocalization system, unlike every other information that we provide on the basis of our own data gathering, depends
on data provided by TLC companies in every country, by correlating the visitors' IP addresses with data in the official
databases of the international managing bodies, which collect that data. It is up to the TLCs to provide the international
managing bodies with the geolocalization for every new range of Ip addresses. Any discrepancy or error on the geolocalization
map is due to this data and it is not the responsibility of ShinyStat. The degree of precision in the TLCs' data transmission
affects the reliability of their data. Unlike every other information that we provide on the basis of our own data gathering, is the
result of information provided by the TLC companies of each country. Therefore ShinyStat is not responsible for any error or
discrepancy.
Map
In the geolocalization report, even more so than in other reports, the graphic component does not just play a purely accessory role
but it is rather its pivotal (central) feature. Reading this report is highly intuitive, however you may find here some useful bits
and pieces:
- the different colors make it possible to see in a blink the areas where most visits are coming from (marked by a darker color)
and those without visits
- after selecting an area, the map manual scrolling makes it possible to move around
- aiming the mouse at a given geographic area, be it a continent, a country or a city, its data will become visible
- clicking on a city a new report will open showing the trend of visits coming from that city
- a maximum of 200 cities is shown at any given time in the map, in order to make reading it as easy as possible.
clicking on the orange arrow next to the total figure of cities shown one can see the next batch of up to 200 cities.
Table
While the map offers an overall view and the ability to visualize with a few clicks the data of a specific geographic area, the
table below the map, by listing the data in orderly fashion, is crucial for a more detailed analysis of the relevant data.
In the table the different geographic areas (continents, countries and cities) are shown. Clicking on the name of anyone of
them it is possible to get a more detailed view of a specific area. Just like in the map a maximum of 200 cities is viewable
at any given time.
The reports concerning the traffic in any area can be accessed by clicking on the "trend" link to the right of that area.
The trend report makes it possible to analyse the changes in access for each area and it is therefore especially useful in
assessing the results of geomarketing schemes as well as their short-, middle- and long-term effects.
